KAMPALA, Uganda: A year ago his name made rounds in several homes, in and across the country, One for being suspect in the murder of city businesswoman, Donah Katushabe, and another when the DPP dropped murder charges against him.
Anyhow, they stay all storms finally end, and that storm seems to have ended for Aaron Baguma, the former Commander, Central Police Station, (CPS) in Kampala. After almost a year on ‘katebe’ without deployment, the Uganda Police Force has finally redeployed Baguma according to a release issued by the force on Friday. Aaron Baguma who has been keeping a low profile will be supervised by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIGP Asuman Mugenyi under the directorate of Private Security and Fire Arms Department.
Who Is Aaron Baguma?
Baguma, now at the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP), was cleared of murder charges under unclear circumstances by the DPP in the alleged murder of city businesswoman Donah Katushabe. Baguma was then the commandant CPS, the station located a few meters from the Pine Car Bond belonging to Mohammad Ssebuwufu where Katushabe was confined and clobbered to death. He was charged among others of neglect of duty, kidnap, and murder.
Who Was Katushabe?
Betty Donah Katusabe was a city businesswoman and resident of Bwebajja along Entebbe road. She was picked from her residence in Bwebajja on October 21 2015 on orders of top police officers and dispatched to Ssebuwufu’s Pine car bond in Kampala where she was beaten by muscular men for failing to pay a car debt of shs9m. Ssebuwufu, a car dealer and seven others were charged with the murder of Katusabe. Ssebuwufu is currently out on bail.
Baguma To Act As State Witness
Now that he is back in office, we can reveal that the reasons the DPP, Mr. Mike Chibita cleared Baguma of murder charges is to have him as a state witness in the trail against Ssebuwufu. The Constitution also gives the DPP powers to withdraw charges against any suspect at any stage of the trial. (www.manafort.com)
