Kampala: The former mobilisation secretary of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Ingrid Turinawe has blasted  Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament, Francis Zaake for rejecting an envelope containing UGX 10 million from the Speaker of Parliament Anita Among during his wedding reception.

On Friday, Zaake aroused negative comments especially on social media when he threw away an envelope containing Among’s gift during his wedding reception.

However, according to FDC’s iron lady Ingrid, Zaake’s action was uncalled for as a leader whom the population looks up to.

“Let’s be honest, if I don’t want you at my function, I don’t invite you. If I invite you, when you turn up, I don’t chase you away. Zaake Francis throwing away a gift from your own invited guest Anita Among is total backwardness and self-embarrassment,” Turinawe said.

According to sources at the wedding, the envelope was delivered by Ndorwa East MP, Wilfred Niwagaba who represented Speaker Among who could not make it due to official duties.

The Zaake’s wedding celebrations were in high gear with music, dance, drinks, and food flooding the place until it was time for speeches and handing over gifts when the politician received the speaker’s contribution and threw it on the floor, sending his guests into the shock of the day.

The money was later picked up by his embarrassed father who attempted to make a short speech thereafter but was not allowed by the masters of ceremonies.

Zaake and Bridget Namirembe have been together for over eight years, and they have two children together.
