To Be Honest, I Don’t Know Any Ugandan Artiste – Tarrus Riley

By Samuel Opio

By now you already know that the Jamaican star Tarrus Riley set foot in the country yesterday.

Yes, the Jamaican star’s early arrival is not the only surprise he had for Ugandans. Flanked by legendary Dean Frasser whose career goes back to the days of Bob Marley, the Jamaican reggae sensation revealed that he does not know any Ugandan artiste!

The Reggae star who is in Uganda for the first time made the remark during a press briefing held at Mestil Hotel on Wednesday morning.

“To be honest I don’t know any Ugandan artistes and what I know in Uganda is River Nile and Tshaka Mayanja is to be blamed if he doesn’t  take me there, I want to leave Uganda with a favorite Ugandan musician,” Tarrus Riley said.

However, he was quick to add that he is in the country and ready to learn.

” It is in good faith I’m here and ready to learn about Ugandan music and artistes.”

Nonetheless, Tarrus has not ruled out the possibility of collaboration with a Ugandan musician. He noted that if he feels the vibe of any of the local musicians, he might end up in the studio with them as he urged the artistes to bring out their A-game when they perform at the Swangz All Star concert slated for Friday at Lugogo Cricket Oval.

Tarrus stated that he always looked forward to performing in Uganda and promised to give Ugandans a memorable performance.

“In whatever I do, I want to achieve my best. When I dress, I want to look my best, when I perform, I am looking at giving the best experience. When writing, I use the best expressions and words,” he stated.

This is his third performance in Africa after performing in Kenya and Zimbabwe in earlier concerts.
