The Tooro Kingdom is in a sombre mood after they lost one of their own, Lands Minister Owek.Polly Kateba Acaali who succumbed to deadly Covid-19 this morning in ICU, Mulago Hospital.

The sad news comes few days after the Kingdom’s chief Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi 1V Amooti lost his elderly Aunt princess Damali Noel Komukyeya Kankya Adyeeri, who too, succumbed to COVID-19 at the age of 72.
Damali was the daughter of late Omukama Sir George Kamurasi Rukidi III and late lady Kezia Byanjeru.
Meanwhile, the above deaths come in a time when Uganda continues to battle the second wave of COVID-19 and as we report this, the Ministry has few hours ago said that results of COVID-19 tests done on 30 June 2021 have confirmed 1,048 new cases bringing the cumulative confirmed cases to 82,082.

The breakdown of the new cases are: 978 Contacts and Alerts: Kampala (434) Wakiso (76) Tororo (70) Kalungu (40) Hoima (35) Mbale (31) Kibuku (28) Luwero (22) Nakasongola (21) Kalaki (18) Kiryandongo (16) Kyotera (17) Rakai (14) Butaleja (15) Soroti (15) Masaka (13) Jinja (12).
