Tragic Mabira Accident Claims Police Officer, 3 Others

Mabira, Uganda: A police officer and three civilians perished in a nasty accident this morning that occurred in Mabira forest, along Jinja Road.

Uganda Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga Confirmed the accident and revealed that as the Police Force, they lost one of their highly trained and resourceful officers identified as Andrew Mapata, who has been attached to Katwe police station. Enanga revealed that the accident occurred when a motor vehicle Costa registration number UBD 343P that was heading from Kampala to Jinja tried to overtake in a corner at Sanga, near the new picnic site, but ended up colliding with a trailer registration number T643DNU/T8441DND, which was heading to Kampala from Jinja.

“As Uganda police force we are really saddened to have lost such a great officer in an accident. We call upon all road users, especially drivers, to be extremely careful on the road because any sort of recklessness leads to loss of lives” Enanga said. He added that “Thirteen (13) people were injured and are currently admitted at Jinja hospital receiving medical attention as investigations into what could have caused the accident are going on.
