Trouble Looms As PAC Summons 14 Gov’t Officers Over A.G Queries On Public Projects

Kampala: Members of Parliament on the Publics Accounts Committee have summoned 14 government officials to appear before parliament without fail, such that they can answer several queries about various public projects.

The summons came after PAC members being severally disappointed by the response of several government project officers who have failed to appear before the Committee as requested before.

The Committee thus resolved to summon heads or coordinators of over 14 projects under the ministry of Finance, to appear and answer to various audit queries as and when raised by the Auditor Generals reports.

Some fo the projects under querry include; Micro Economic Management, You Growth, Development of Industrial Parks, Skilled Development project and others.

However, to the shock of the Committee chaired by Budadiri West legislator Nandala Mafabi, those who had appeared on Wednesday were irrelevant and had no answers required by the Committee.

That prompted one of the committee members James Waluswaka to propose a motion to conduct a forensic audit into all projects and that Project Coordinators should step aside as the auditing continues.
