Turkish Selli Resigned As Gomba Ssaza Coach

By Ssebulime Peter

Gomba: Gomba head coach Omer Selli stepped down on 8 July from his managerial role following a poor run of results and interferences in his work by the club administrators.

The record Airtel Masaza Cup champions appointed the Turkish tactician in March 2019 on a six months employment contract replacing Ibrahim Kirya who was at the helms of the four time Masaza Cup winners.

In a confirmation message, Selli cited interference in his work by the club administrators as the key reason to his resignation.
“I decided to resign because of interference in my duties. I cannot work like that. I could not choose the players I wanted to play because some officials had a say in the lineup, Selli noted.

He had also missed two of the previous games for Gomba; away to Bugerere and lately at home with defending champions – Ssingo. Ironically both the matches that Selli missed were losses for the record Masaza tournament champions. (Tramadol

In Selli’s absence; Jamadah Magasi, Ramadhan Ddungu and Abubakar Sseguya were handling the team under the keen eyes of technical director Ronald Ssali and Denis Kizito.

Management of this Kabulasooke based team is yet to come up with an official statement after the coach furnished them with the resignation letter.

Gomba is in Masengere Group alongside Ssingo, Bugerere, Ssese and Buvuma. They are currently fourth in the group with 4 points accumulated in four games.

They will next host bottom placed Buvuma on 14th July at Kabulasoke grounds.
