Two Netted For Robbing Russian Investor Shs27M On Gunpoint

Kampala: Two men suspected to have robbed a Russian investor identified as Andrew Svobodin, in Mityana municipality over the weekend have been arrested by the Police’s Flying Squad unit.

The suspects have been identified are Nyago Nsubuga and Fauzi Nakibuule, who were netted from Kisota village in Kisasi, Nakawa Division in Kampala by Flying Squad Unit operatives under Kira Road Policing Division. 

They are charged with theft of items valued at Shs50m from Svobodin, although their third accomplice is still at large.

Police spokesperson, said three thugs armed with an AK47 rifle placed Svobodin at gun point and robbed him of 3 laptops, USD7400 (about Shs27m), Shs8m in cash and 11 Smartphones.

Enanga revealed that Flying Squad Unity operatives trailed the suspects in their vehicle registration number UAV 235J until they nabbed them.

At the time of arrest,  Enanga said the suspects were found with USD500  plus equipment used in burglary.   

According to police, the third suspect who is believed to be in possession of the gun that was used in the robbery is still at large and units across the country have been alerted to hunt for him.
