Malaba: Two Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) officers have been badly smashed by a running container truck in Malaba leaving both of them dead.

According to the eye witnesses, the accident occurred after a running truck rammed into a stationary car in which UPDF officers were sitting in at the corner along along Malaba-Jinja highway.
“Good morning colleagues,its a very bad morning to the URA family,Semwanga a fleet assistant attached to malaba enforcement survived a nasty accident which claimed the lives of two updf soldiers, at Tororo junction when a trailor coming from Tororo side lost control and rammed into the pick up killing the two soldiers instantly,” said a source from URA.

The two soldiers have been identified as Warrant officer Collins Manayanga and Private James Tumusime, both attached to Uganda Revenue Authority/Customs Malaba.

The district police commander, SP Rogers Chebeben confirmed the accident and said the the truck driver was on the run. He attributed the cause of the accident to reckless driving.
