Tycoon Kigongo, Capt. Babu Clash Over NRM Vice Chairperson Seat, Rekindle Longtime War Over Woman

A bitter clash has erupted between  Kampala mogul Al Hajji Moses  Kigongo and former minister Capt. Francis Babu, over the National Resistance Movement (NRM) First Vice Chairperson seat.

Our Spies reveal that although Babu was warming up to contest for the seat against Kigongo, and had already picked nomination forms, he was shocked to receive a call mid this week informing him that he should step down and let Kigongo contest for the position unopposed, like it was for the position of NRM National Party Chairman, which President Yoweri Museveni sailed through unopposed.

Our spy revealed that Kigongo, who had injected in a lot of money into his political bid by printing posters and booking adverts on radio and TV stations, is so furious and spitting venom at some NRM stalwarts, whom he says are spoiling their (NRM) party.

As a result of the standoff between the two power brokers, Babu has no kind words for Kigongo and has since advised him to step down instead, if he doesn’t want to compete, since he has occupied the same position for the last 30 years.

However, we have established that the NRM Secretariat, which kicked off Party Primaries today, has since invited Babu to a reconciliation meeting such that the differences between him and Kigongo may not tear the Party apart.

Captain Francis Babu is a seasoned politician in Uganda’s politics. He emerged on the political scene in the late 1980s after his election as a Councilor in then Kampala Capital City. Babu also served as minister and as a Member of Parliament.

He is the father of Cedric Babu, who is contesting for the Kampala Lord Mayoral seat against the incumbent Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago.

Despite the political disagreements between the two, our Spies reveal that Kigongo and Babu have had a long-running sex battle.

Those who know about the beef between these two men reveal that their rivalry started several years back when Kigongo snatched Babu’s  former wife Olive  Zaitun Makambera Kigongo.

It is said that by the time Kigongo snatched Zaitun, she had already mothered Cedric Babu and one of his sisters, although she went away to her then new lover’s home with them, something that didn’t amuse Capt. Babu at all. Babu, after spending years of loneliness and languishing with heartache, later hooked up with Margaret Zziwa, the former Speaker of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).

Several years down the road, after fathering children with Zaitun, the two developed bitter misunderstandings after Kigongo became worryingly close with NTV star Faridah Nakazibwe.

Zaitun became so furious with Nakazibwe, whom she reportedly regarded as a gold digger that was enjoying all the wealth she had toiled for with Kigongo, so she tried as much as possible to separate them.

When she failed to compete with bummy Nakazibwe, Zaitun opted for a bitter divorce battle, following which they had to share all their properties, including Mossa Courts Apartments, a house in Kololo and several other real estate properties around Kampala.

However, shortly after their divorce, Kigongo, who had thought he’d landed a faithful Hajjati in Nakazibwe, almost collapsed with heartache after she dumped him and fled with Umar Ssali, a lad who claimed to be a doctor in the United Arab Emirates.

Meanwhile, Speaker Rebecca Kadaga and her deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanyah are both viciously contesting for the position of NRM Second Vice Chairperson and the results of the primaries shall be unveiled soon. Watch this space!
