Renowned Kampala mogul Lawrence Mulindwa is on Cloud 9 after the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) on Tuesday approved his St. Mary’s stadium as a stadium that befits international standards.
Our Spies reveal that FIFA officials certified St. Mary’s Stadium after issuing its management with a certificate of compliance after they installed a modern turf that conforms to international standards.
The certification from FIFA, which is signed by Gianni Infantino, the football governing body’s president, reads in part thus; “FIELD CERTIFICATE:
ST. MARY’S STADIUM
FIFA is pleased to Confirm that Libra 60x-15 by Co-Creation Grass Co., Ltd. Has been installed at ST. MARY’S STADIUM- Vipers SC-Kampala (Uganda) from 23/04/2019 to 22/04/2022 this installation has bee certified according to the FIFA QUALITY PROGRAMME FOR FOOTBALL TURF-FIFA QUALITY, field No. 1002882.”
This development means that St. Mary’s Stadium now qualifies to host all international matches, meaning that it is the second most recognized stadium in the country after Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.
