Tycoon Sudhir Pardons Sacked Sanyu FM Staff, Asks Them To Reapply For Jobs

By Spy Uganda

Kampala businessman and property magnate Dr Sudhir Ruparelia has pardoned employees of Sanyu FM who had all been sacked after they staged a sit-down strike to protest a Management decision to reduce their salaries  due to the COVID-19 lockdown.

The Management of Sanyu FM on Wednesday decided to fire all the employees and replace them with new one after they rejected  a decision to slash their salaries by 25%, because of the COVID-19 effects on the Company’s finances.

However, after a lengthy meeting held between the sacked staff and management of the radio, tycoon Suhdir agreed to give the  disgruntled employees a second chance, but asked them to reapply for their jobs and only those who qualify will be rehired.

A Spy at the radio station who attended the meeting but preferred anonymity said that the staff begged management to return to work because they were misled by one of their colleagues.

The Spy also said that the top managers during the meeting agreed that all those who had absconded but wanted to return must re-apply for their jobs, after which Management will decide whom to reinstate or not.

Management has also reportedly received a list of some people who have been recommended to take over the jobs of all those who have left, in a bid to reassemble the radio station’s workforce as quickly as possible.
