Prominent business tycoon and Ruparelia Group Chairman, H.E Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, has raised an alarm over a scam in which fraudsters are using artificial intelligence (AI) to dub his voice in videos circulating online.

In a message to his networks, friends, and business associates, Sudhir cautioned the public to be vigilant, warning that scammers are impersonating him for motives that remain unclear. A video shared online appears to show him speaking, but he has since confirmed that his voice was manipulated using AI.

“Please be careful, it is a scam,” Sudhir told our Spy Andrew Irumba via a WhatsApp message while sharing a link of the fraudulent video.

As AI technology continues to advance, cases of deepfake audio and video scams have been on the rise globally, with criminals using sophisticated tools to impersonate high-profile figures.

Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, who also serves as Nepal’s Consul to Uganda, has urged law enforcement agencies to investigate the matter and take necessary action to protect the public from falling victim to such scams.

Authorities and cyber experts advise individuals to verify any suspicious messages, especially those soliciting financial transactions, and to report fraudulent activity immediately.

This latest scam serves as a reminder of the growing need for digital literacy and cybersecurity awareness in an era where AI-powered deception is becoming increasingly sophisticated.
