Uganda Cup: Lwanga Saves KCCA Against Nyamityobora As Wakiso Giants Beat Water FC 3-1 To Sail Through To Round Of 16

Charles Lwanga strike in the 89th minute to give KCCA a  late winner at Kakyeka Stadium on Saturday in the Stanbic bank Uganda Cup.

Both sides had tried to find the back of the net but all their chances yield no fruit until Lwanga scored the only goal of the game to end it 1-0.

The Kasasiro boys progressed to the round of 16 under the management of a new head coach Morley Byekwaso 5-2.

Nyamityobora came into this game hoping to win at least by 2-0 which would have seen them qualify on 4-4 but away goal rule taking effect but that remained a theory with their road in the competition coming to an end.

Meanwhile, Wakiso Giants beat Water FC 3-1 at Kabaka Kyabagu Stadium in Wakiso to move to the round of 16.

Tom Masiko scored a thunderbolt in the 30th minute before Ibrahim Kasule doubled the lead ten minutes later and Ivan Bogere sealed the win with his first goal for the club in the 64th minute. William Kiibi pulled back one for the visitors in the 82nd minute to end it 3-1.

The purple sharks qualified on aggregate 5-2 having won in the first game 2-1.

Stanbic Bank Uganda Cup continues on Sunday with Ndejje University FC locking horns with SC Villa at the Arena Of Vision in Luweero.

Important to note is that this year’s Uganda Cup will be a two-legged tournament except the final and only 32 clubs have participated in the competition due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
