Uganda Kobs Punch DRC 1-0 In CECAFA U-23 Classification Battle

The Kobs recorded their first victory in the 2021 CECAFA U-23 Challenge Cup tournament in Ethiopia.

A 1-0 win against guest country Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) at the Bahir Dar International Stadium on Monday, 26th July 2021 was the difference in the well contested duel.

Vipers’ Najib Yiga scored the priceless goal in the added minute of the opening half.

There were no further goals in the game as Uganda’s defence remained solid.

Uganda will now face Eritrea in the second classification match to determine the 5th or 6th placed countries at this championship.

Head coach Morley Byekwaso was delighted by the victory and now set eyes to the next classification match.

‘‘I thank God for this victory. We improved a lot in most aspects and departments. I am happy for the boys. I look forward the next match against Eritrea,’’ Byekwaso told the press match conference.
