A consultancy firm based in the United Kingdom is in trouble for allegedly conning over Shs2.5Bn from tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia’s Meera Investments limited.
Spy Uganda has learnt that the firm known as FBW, which is being investigated by the Uganda Police over the fraud, was contracted by Meera Investments to provide consultancy services prior to the construction of Speke Apartments Wampeewo and the extension of Kabira Country Club.
Our Spy Reveals that Meera Investments approached FBW in 2012 and the two signed a contract to undertake the construction of Speke Apartments Wampeewo and the extension of Kabira Country Club.
The details further reveal that Meera gave FBW an upfront payment of Shs1Bn for the construction of Speke Apartments and Shs1.4Bn for the for the expansion of Kabira Country Club.
However, to date the construction works for Kabira Country Club extension has not been done, because of FBW’s fraud.
Sources reveal that Meera Ivestments has for long asked for architectural plans from FBW so that work could kick off but they always play hide and seek.
Left with no option other than legal redress, Meera Investments has since file a case of obtaining money by false pretence against FBW at Katwe police station under reference number GEF:131/2019
