Uganda Registers 96 New COVID-19 Cases As Global Deaths Surpass 900k

Kampala: Today Sunday September 13, 2020, the Ministry of Health has confirmed 96 new COVID-19 cases which brings the cumulative total confirmed cases in Uganda to 4,799.

The breakdown of the new cases is: 88 contacts and alerts: Kampala (33), Buikwe (28), Jinja (4), Soroti (4), Lira (3), Kibuku (2), Mbarara (2), Terego (2), Tororo (2), Amolatar (1), Arua (1), Iganga (1), Masindi (1), Ngora (1), Moroto (1), Pader (1) and Wakiso (1).

Others are seven truck drivers; Malaba (3), Bunagana (2), Elegu (2) and one returnee from DRC.

Despite the spikes in the number of infections, more patients are continuing to win battle against the deadly Coronavirus. 2,256 patients have so far recovered from the virus in Uganda.

Nevertheless, the number of COVID-19 related deaths is slowly increasing as the Ministry has today reported three from Kampala, bringing the total COVID-19 deaths to 55.

Globally, since 31 December 2019 when the novel Coronavirus was declared a pandemic to-date 13 September 2020, 28 802 775 cases have been reported, including 920,931 deaths.

In the graph above, no deaths are reported on 25 May in Europe due to the national retro-correction of death data in Spain. The number of deaths in Europe was less than the negative numbers reported by Spain that day.

Globally cases have been reported from:

Africa: 1 347 353 cases; the five countries reporting most cases are South Africa (648 214), Egypt (100 856), Morocco (84 435), Ethiopia (63 888) and Nigeria (56 177).

Asia: 8 436 613 cases; the five countries reporting most cases are India (4 754 356), Iran (399 940), Bangladesh (336 044), Saudi Arabia (325 050) and Pakistan (301 481).

America: 14 847 457 cases; the five countries reporting most cases are United States (6 486 108), Brazil (4 315 687), Peru (722 832), Colombia (708 964) and Mexico (663 973).

Europe: 4 139 193 cases; the five countries reporting most cases are Russia (1 057 362), Spain (566 326), France (373 911), United Kingdom (365 174) and Italy (286 297).

Oceania: 31 463 cases; the five countries reporting most cases are Australia (26 607), Guam (1 891), New Zealand (1 446), French Polynesia (891) and Papua New Guinea (510).

Other: 696 cases have been reported from an international conveyance in Japan.

Deaths have been reported from:

Africa: 32 501 deaths; the five countries reporting most deaths are South Africa (15 427), Egypt (5 627), Algeria (1 605), Morocco (1 553) and Nigeria (1 078).

Asia: 161 371 deaths; the five countries reporting most deaths are India (78 586), Iran (23 029), Indonesia (8 650), Iraq (7 941) and Turkey (6 999).

America: 512 221 deaths; the five countries reporting most deaths are United States (193 701), Brazil (131 210), Mexico (70 604), Peru (30 593) and Colombia (22 734).

Europe: 213 967 deaths; the five countries reporting most deaths are United Kingdom (41 623), Italy (35 603), France (30 910), Spain (29 747) and Russia (18 484).

Oceania: 864 deaths; the five countries reporting most deaths are Australia (803), Guam (25), New Zealand (24), Papua New Guinea (6) and Fiji (2).
