Mulago: The current situation at Mulago National Referral Hospital is so terrible that most Ugandans are worried that the health facility itself is on deathbed.
Our Spies at the hopsital reveal that the situation is so horrible because patients have no sickbed and hence many of them get admitted on the cold floor of the wards. Besides that, concerned Ugandans reveal that there is untold corruption at the hospital, to the extent that even cleaners ask for money from patients who want their wards cleaned.
One of the concerned Ugandans who has a patient at Mulago Hospital admitted on the floor wrote to us narrating their predicamen thus,
“Early Friday morning a family member was involved in an accident & taken to a private hospital but late in the night we were referred to Mulago Hospital because our case required orthopedic specialists whereby they happen to be in Mulago. While there, people were being brought in one by one all victims of accidents to my surprise there was no bed to place our patient and the only habitable space was the dirty floor full of blood all over.
On the entry there is a sign post “no cameras no photos” I managed to take a few photos though to let the world know where we are as a nation in regard to health care. Pain killers is a big business here on arrival, attendants ask for 20,000/- for Panadol but luckily we had got first aid from the hospital we first went to.
It took about 5 hours to get attention and this was from intern medical students and they only came at 8am. So inside there even cleaners ask for money 30,00/- to assist you access the guy who records your entry into files who also asks people for 30000/- to do an X-ray sincerely life at the national referral hospital is so terrible in that there could be too much contamination of diseases from blood contact of different patients.
With all the mattress factories our President poses to open can’t we get investors who donate mattress for the beds on national hospitals why can’t we have drugs yet we brag about industrialism.”
