Uganda’s Coronavirus Cases Rise To 686 After Health Ministry Confirms 7 New Cases

The Ministry of Health has revealed that cases of registered Coronavirus infections in  Uganda have risen to 686, after  seven (7) new cases were recorded from the 2,532 samples tested on Thursday June 11, 2020.

According to information from the Ministry of Health, three(3) of the new cases were among 1,310 samples tested  from points of entry while the four (4) were among 1,164 samples of alerts and contacts and all confirmed cases are Ugandans. On the same date, all samples of Health Workers tested negative for COVID-19.

The Ministry also revealed that “Additionally, eighteen (18) foreign truck drivers (8 Kenyans, 4 Tanzanians, 2 Congolese, 2 South Sudanese and 2 Eritreans tested positive for COVID-19 and were returned to their respective country of origin.”

It should also be noted that among the new confirmed cases, three (3) are from Points of Entry, two (2) from Malaba Point of Entry while (1) is from Mutukula Point of Entry.

Four (4) of the confirmed cases are alerts and contacts to previously confirmed cases, which include 2 from Tororo, 1 from Kyotera and 1 from Gulu District.

Despite all the above, Uganda has not registered a COVID-19 death to date and the total number of recoveries has since risen to 161.
