Uganda’s COVID-19 Cases Rise To 1,103 As 19 Foreign Truckers Test Positive

Kampala: Uganda’s COVID-19 cases have reached 1,103 after Ministry of Health confirmed 14 new cases from results tested on 24 July 2020 that also confirmed 982 recoveries.

Among the new infections are 5 truck drivers who include two that arrived via Malaba, other two arrived via Padea and 1 who arrived via Ngomoromo points of entry.

Others are 4 returnees who were under quarantine including one from South Sudan, one from Kenya and two from Dubai in United Arab Emirates.

Ministry also recorded three alerts that include one from Kampala, one from Wakiso and another one from Arua.

In the same day, two contacts tested positive however these were under quarantine including one from Namisindwa and one from Lira.

Meanwhile 19 foreign truck drivers tested positive for COVID-19 at border points and their entry into the country was not permitted

In the same vein 1,817 samples were tested from different boarder points of entry that included 671 samples from alerts and contacts making 2,488 total samples tested the whole day.
