Uganda’s COVID-19 Death Toll Shoot To 25 As Total Cases Hit 2,426

Kampala: The Ministry of health has confirmed that Uganda today registered 64 new cases of coronavirus from the latest set of results tested on Monday that also confirmed three deaths, bringing the cumulative death toll to 25.

The statistics made public by the Health Ministry on Tuesday afternoon on its official Twitter handle, shows that the cumulative confirmed cases of Ugandans is now at 2,426.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,267 people have recovered from COVID-19.

Breakdown of the 64 new cases;

According to the Health Ministry, 60 of these are contacts and alerts in Kampala (27), Arua (11), Gulu (7), Wakiso (3), Manafwa (2), Adjumani (2), Zombo (2), Amuru (1), Buikwe (1), Hoima (1), Lamwo (1), Lira (1) and Tororo (1).

The group also includes two health workers from Kampala, one returnee from Saudi Arabia and one truck driver from Malaba point of entry.

“Eight (8) foreign truck drivers (seven Kenyans and one Congolese) tested positive for COVID-19 at different points of entry and were not permitted to enter the country [Uganda].” Ministry tweeted.

The latest recorded deaths are of a 65-year-old male and two females aged 65 and 70-all residents of Kampala.

In the same vein, Ministry tested 1,122 today samples from points of entry, 2,090 samples from alerts and contacts making up 3,212 total number of samples tested the whole day that totals 355,057 samples tested since the COVID-19 outbreak in Uganda.
