Uganda’s Red Eagles Through To Finals Of Cecafa Kagame Cup

Uganda Premier League Champions Express football club crushed Zanzibar’s KMKM FC to storm the finals of the Cecafa Kagame Cup at the Azam Complex in Tanzania on Tuesday.

Eric Kambale’s late goal from the spot followed a foul on Martin Kiiza by the opponent’s defender and the referee didn’t make any mistake but to point at the spot.

Kambale slotted home calmly and what followed were celebrations which earned the goal scorer a yellow card for removing his shirt but nonetheless, he earned his side a slot in the finals.

KMKM had taken a lead in the first half through Abdullah Hamad’s free-kick which deflected on the red eagles’ Arthur Kigundu but midfielder Muzamiru Mutyaba was quick to level matters at the start of the second half with a phenomenal free-kick.

That was the skipper’s third goal of the tournament which brought back momentum and confidence for the Ugandan based side.

Danger-man Kambale’s late winning goal ended a 26 year’s drought of a final by the Wasswa Bbosa’s side.
