Kampala: It’s no longer rumors, seasoned communications expert, Peter Kaujju has officially joined Umeme as the new Head of Communications.
Kaujju resigned last month from Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), where he served as the Head, Public and Corporate Affairs for 9 years. Infact, Kaujju was the body’s first PR Head since changing from Kampala City Council (KCC) to Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).
According to our sources within KCCA, Kaujju reportedly resigned his KCCA role on May,30,2020 as he was eyeing for a spontaneous Job in Umeme, Uganda’s leading power distributor, whose contract would begin on July,1, 2020.
However when we contacted Kaujju by then to tip us, he declined to divulge into any details and instead advised us to be ‘patient’. “Wait for official communication, if indeed it is true, I am sure you will know in the coming days,” he said.
Meanwhile according to the latest information on TheSpy Uganda’s desk indicate that Kaujju has been officially welcomed at Umeme as the head of Communications, a vacancy that was empty since June 2019 when Sandor Lyle Walusimbi’s, the then holder of the job, contract expired
Kaujju will be remembered for being the Authority’s first spokesperson, in which role, he created and led KCCA’s Public and Corporate Affairs Department from scratch and successfully positioned KCCA as a top performing and stakeholder-centric, highly-rated, respectable, and vibrant brand especially amongst government agencies.
On his new role Kaujju is responsible for planning and advising the management team on matters of communication and public relations as well as spearheading stakeholder engagements with the Company.
Kaujju holds an MBA (Communication and Diplomacy) from ESAMI Arusha as well as a Post Graduate Diploma from ECOLE Nationale College, Paris in France. He also has a BA (Masscom) from Makerere University.
Before KCCA, Kaujju worked at Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) in the communications department as well as at ZK Advertising- a leading advertising in Uganda in the 2000’s. He was also a senior business reporter at The New Vision.
