UNEB Issues Fresh Guidelines On P.7 Registration As Kampala Parents’ School Enrols Huge Numbers

Kampala: The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has issued fresh highlights on the registration process for primary seven candidates settling mixed reactions that have been surrounding the matter.

The registration process, according to UNEB, is expected to run for five weeks, with no room for late registration, adding that fees have been maintained at Shs34000 for PLE, Shs164000 for UCE and 186000 for UACE hence warning schools against inflating the same.

“We strongly urge head-teachers not to inflate the registration fees, claiming they are UNEB registration fees. Any additional charges that the school would like to make for administrative purposes should clearly be explained to the parents, and MUST NOT, in any way, be referred to as ‘UNEB fees/Registration fees, ” Dan Odongo, the UNEB executive secretary, said.

He added, “For candidates under the government programs of Universal Primary Education (UPE), Universal Secondary Education (USE), and Universal Post ‘O’ Level Education and Training (UPOLET), the government will pay the fees.”

Meanwhile, Kampala Parents’ School, a private mixed school providing a local curriculum on an international level located at Nakawa Division, Kampala along Lugogo bypass have been registering huge numbers of pupils ready to sit for their final exams early next year at the prestigious school. KPS was recently granted a certificate of compliance for all SOPs in regards to fighting spread of COVID-19 in schools, as a requirement for schools re-opening. The certificate was granted by the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Education and Sports, Alex Kakooza upon the inspection of the school.

In our interaction with one of the school administrators, it was established that the school has registered the highest turnout of pupils despite COVID-19 financial hardships due to its academic performance as a result of the well-trained staff members.

“Discipline is a vital element in grooming pupils. It is the key to success as evidenced by the good performance for many consecutive years,” An administrator revealed.
