Kampala: Radio Simba’s four presenters dubbed comedians under their stage name Bizonto, who were picked like ‘Uganda Waragi’ thieves today’s morning at their workplace over allegations of promoting sectarian have been granted bail.

These include; Julius Serwanja,35, Maliseeri Mbabali,36, Gold Ki-Mating,49 and Peter Ssabakaki, 35. Their bail was granted to them by magistrate Asuman Muhumuza after being presented before Buganda Road Court where they denied the charges.

It is against that background therefore that the magistrate released them on an Shs100,000 bail each and bonded each of their sureties at Shs500,000, not cash.
It is worth noting that the same group of comedians were in July 2020 arrested for releasing a satirical skit in which they mentioned several heads of government institutions insinuating that they all hail from the western part of the country. In their skit, the group mentioned President Museveni, Electoral Commission, UNRA, Uganda Prisons, URA, NSSF, Ministry of Finance, ISO and CMI bosses.

The police then slapped on them charges related to recording and sharing a video with the potential of causing hatred and unnecessary apprehension and it is the same charges that have seen them arrested for the second time, after jumping bail.
