Kampala: Members of the Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) and the Uganda Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) have teamed up to conduct a joint general cleaning
exercise of Kawempe Specialized National Referral Hospital, as a way of promoting the spirit of voluntarism in the country’s corporate culture. We have established that the cleaning exercise is scheduled to take place on May 25th, 2019, starting at 10:00Am until all late in the afternoon. Public Relations practitioners from leading public and private organizations shall be conducting the cleaning exercise together with UPDF soldiers. Sarah Kagingo, the PRAU President, noted that PR practitioners are often called upon to provide insights on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives that their respective organizations should take on.
Kagingo said that “Kawempe Specialized National Referral Hospital provides maternal and neonatal health services. We are happy to provide support to such a facility that is critical to the health and well-being of the children and women of Uganda,” says Kagingo. Kagingo noted that the UPDF is a critical partner in this effort as they are at the forefront of safeguarding Ugandans, have been involved in several cleaning exercises and are often among the first respondents in case of emergencies. “As UPDF, we look forward to this partnership with PRAU, and this engagement will be yet another opportunity to renew UPDF commitment to serve the people of Uganda,” Brigadier Richard Karemire, Defence Spokesperson said. The Hospital Clean-Up event is the first of its kind between PRAU and UPDF.
