UPL: 10 Man Express Squad Soar URA 3-0 As Police Cruise Past Kyetume

Express FC stunned URA 3-0 on Saturday at Wankulukuku in the Star-Times Uganda Premier League round two opening match for both sides.

Before this game, the tax collectors had won 9 consecutive away league games unbeaten having collected 27points from a possible 27.

Godfrey Lwesibawa flew high in to head home Charles Musiige’s brilliant cross near the post to give the red eagles a lead in the 10th minute.

Two minutes later, URA’s Ivan Sserubiri picked up a yellow card for a challenge on the red eagles player.

In the 17th minutes, Eric Kambale doubled the lead after rising high to meet Martin Kizza’s freekick.

After the second goal, the tax collectors’ head coach Sam Simbwa made an early change replacing Moses Sseruyide with Faruku Katongole in the 23rd minute.

In the 33rd minute, URA’s Sserubiri made an attempt on goal but his effort was comfortably collected by the red eagle’s goalkeeper Muwanga.

Kambale stretched express FC’s lead to 3-0 in the 37th minute after converting from the spot following a reckless challenge on Martin Kizza in the area and the red eagles went to the break with a 3-0 lead.

On return of the second half, Julius Mutyaba fouled Express’ Musiige and the doctors were called on for his treatment in the 50th minute before the red eagles’ Murushid Jjuko was sent off four minutes later for a nasty tackle on the opponent.

URA’s talisman Steven Mukwala stepped up to take the spot and converted it to make it 3-1.

As the tax collectors tried to regain control of the game, Simbwa made a double substitution bringing on Mikidadi Ssenyonga and Michael Birungi for Joachim Ojera and Ivan Sserubiri respectively in the 62nd minute.

The first goal scorer Lwesibawa and captain Enock Walusimbi got booked by center referee Ali Sabila before the final whistle with Express FC taking the three points.

Elsewhere, Police FC Cruised past Kyetume 3-0 at FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.
