UPL: Kitata’s Hattrick Inspires Gaddafi Past Bright Stars, Vipers SC Crumbles

The kings of draws Solitlo Bright Stars finally dropped all three points against the army side Gaddafi FC in the Star Times Uganda Premier League on Tuesday at Kakindu stadium.

Bright Stars who were still unbeaten having collected five points from five games finally fell to Alex Kitata’s spectacular hattrick. Kitata opened the score in the sixth minute of the game with a brilliant strike inside the area.

The hosts kept on the pressure and four minutes later, another golden opportunity went flying when Kitata failed to double the lead from a perfect ball courtesy of Godfrey Lwesibawa.

Kitata found his second in the 77th minute and put the score at 2-0 before he completed his hattrick six minutes later to give Wasswa Bbosa’s side a well deserved win. Kitata was named pilsner man of the match.

Victory puts Gaddafi in the seventh place of the log with nine points tied with KCCA in the sixth place.

Elsewhere, the defending champions Vipers SC struggles continue as they shared spoils with Wakiso Giants at Kabaka Kyabagu stadium in Wakiso.

The game ended 1-1 with Ibrahim Kasule finding the net for the hosts in the 10th minute before defender Hillary Mukundane equalised in the 59th minute to salvage a point for the venoms.

The Kitende based side has had a slow start the season having collected only five points from four matches. They have drawn two, won one and lost one which puts them in tenth position on the table. (Valium)

Meanwhile, Express FC edged the table leaders BUL FC 1-0 to end their unbeaten run at Muteesa ll Stadium, Wankulukuku.

Allan Kayiwa found the back of the net in the 11th minute a goal that later proved to be the difference earning the red eagles a hard fought Victory at home. Denis Otim was named pilsner man of the match.

The win puts red eagles in the fourth place with eleven points tied with third place Wakiso Giants, only three points away from the table leaders.

The league returns on Wednesday with UPDF hosting KCCA FC at Bombo Military Barracks grounds.
