The FUFA competitions disciplinary panel on Wednesday 17th match reached a verdict to give Mbarara City’s Steven Othieno and Wakiso Giants’ Viane Sekajugo a four-match ban following their unsporting behaviors.

According to the statement released by the committee, Othieno used threatening, harmful, offensive, rude, insulting comments and violent conduct towards match officials in the game against Onduparaka played on 9th March 2021 at the green light stadium in Arua.
Investigations were then varied out by the committee about the circumstances and the committee identified and took into account the fact that Othieno admitted to contravening with article 30(2) of the FUFA competitions Rules (FCR) and the player is remorseful of his actions.
On the other hand, Sekajugo is punished for making verbal offensive attack on the match officials during the match between Kitara FC and Wakiso Giants on the 10th March 2021 at Kavumba Recreation Ground in Wakiso.

Both players’ suspensions as decided by the FUFA competitions disciplinary Panel will be effective immediately 17th March 2021, affecting them in four Uganda Premier League competition matches.
“Should they fail to heed to the sanction above, the FUFA competitions disciplinary panel shall be constrained to take stringent disciplinary measures against the players,” the panel warned.
Othieno will now miss Mbarara City’s four fixtures starting with BUL today at Kakyeka stadium and three other starting fixtures of the second round while Sekajugo will miss Wakiso Giants first four of the second round having played in matchday fifteen against UPDF yesterday at Bombo military Barracks grounds a game that ended in a goalless stalemate.
