Mbarara City football club secured its first win of the Star-Times Uganda Premier League season against Kitara in a Derby at Kavumba Recreation Grounds on Tuesday 16th February 2021.

Okwalinga Solo’s lone goal was enough to hand the Ankole Lions a hard-fought victory.
Brian Ssenyondo’s boys came into this game with only three points from three draws moreover a win puts them on 6points with the recent loss being Wakiso Giants at Kakyeka stadium.

Okwalinga found the back of the net just six minutes into the game and what followed was solid clearances and lethal chances created but the Ankole Lions who failed to convert them for more goals. On another hand there was no threatening chances created by the hosts therefore sealing the victory for Mbarara City 1-0.

Kitara will play SC Villa next away from home as Mbarara City host Busoga United at Kakyeka Stadium in the Star-Times Uganda Premier League.

Elsewhere Busoga United, Bright Stars played for a 1-1 stalemate at FUFA Technical Center, Njeru and Vipers SC drew 2-2 with Kyetume Football club.
