UPL: UPDF Secures Driving Seat After Crushing Police As Mbarara City, MYDA Draw

Kampala: The newly promoted Army club UPDF FC who so far are a having the best performance of the season on Saturday trounced their sister cops club Police in a 1-0 win at Bombo military barracks grounds.

Both teams played a shy goalless first half with police making their first substitute bringing on Mubaraka Nsubuga for Derrick Kakooza in the 40th minute of the game.

Five minutes into the game, Ruben Paul Kabuye scored for the army side a goal that later became the difference of the game.

The victory for UPDF sent them to the top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier league having collected 12 points from five games played so far with four wins and one loss.

The Army side will play against the defending champions vipers away to Kitende while police will host the newly promoted Kyetume.

Meanwhile, MYDA and Mbarara City shared the spoils in a 3-3 thriller with Wol Makueth’s brace and Bashir Mutanda scoring for the visitors in the 27th,84th minutes and Mutanda’s 95th equalizer while goals for MYDA were scored by Ogik Norman in the 67th and 72nd minute and Ibrahim Nsimbe in the 90th.

However, the host had a chance to lead the game in the 25th two minutes before the visitors scored but the Ankole Lions’ goalkeeper Mohammed Ssekeba saved the spot to deny the hosts the lead. On thereother hand, Onduparaka defeated Kitara 3-1 away from home while Express overcame SC Villa in Wankulukuku.
