URA football club defeated defending Champions Vipers 2-1 on Saturday in the Star-Times Uganda Premier League at Arena of Visions, Luweero to go three points clear on top of the 16 teams log.

Captain Shafik Kagimu hit the hosts in the lead after 38 minutes of play with a perfect low ball.
Ivan Sserubiri had made an effort on the Venoms goal a minute ago but goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora saved it to keep the game goalless.
The Venoms Siraje Ssentamu was shown a yellow card for a dangerous tackle against URA’s Davis Ssali in the 16th minute.

Five minutes into the second half, Allan Kayiwa missed a golden opportunity to find an equalizer for the visitors before he was subbed off for Paul Mucurezi a minute later and David Bagoole replaced with Cesar Manzoki.
Steven Mukwala doubled the lead for URA in the 59th minute and two minutes later, Coach Sam Simbwa made a double substitution bringing on Michael Birungi and Moses Sseruyidde for Davis Ssali and Ivan Sserubiri.
Substitute Cesar Manzoki pulled back one for Vipers in the 73rd minute which turned out to be the only goal for the Venoms at full time.

Vipers last won away to URA in the 2017/18 season, losing two times and two draws in their last five encounters.

The win pushed the tax collectors on top of the table having collected 33 points from 14 games played so far followed by Vipers at 30 with Express FC who are in the third position at 28 points facing off with Kyetume later in the evening.

URA will play against Onduparaka in Arua on matchday 15 while Vipers will lock-horns with Kampala Capital City Authority football club at St Mary’s Kitende.
