Kampala: After an approval to online classes that was announced last week by the Education Minister and first lady Janet Kataha Museveni, the innovative Sudhir’s Victoria University has opted for free online classes to both new and old students to ensure continuity in Eduaction even amidst the current COVID-19 crisis.
This means all University students will be able to learn via online contentedly in their respective locations so as not to loose their academic year program that was hindered by the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Victoria University has switched to online learning as the country is currently still in total lockdown with education institutions not able to operate for a foreseeable future.
The announcement was initiated by the Senior Presidential Advisor on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Hon Ham Mulira who commended Victoria University for putting in place early measures to help students continue with their classes uninterrupted during the COVID 19 pandemic.
Mulira, while addressing the media at Victoria University in Kampala said, such early initiatives like giving each new student a laptop will provide them with ability to study away from the university during this lockdown period caused by corona virus.
He added that government through the National Council for Higher Education has come up with online/ distance learning guidelines for Higher learning education institutions on how to use technology as a medium of communication to impart knowledge to students while they are away from school.
The university’s main campus had hitherto been located at 54B Kira Road, in Kamwokya suburbs. By Wednesday evening, the tycoon started relocating the university property to his newly refurbished Eagen Mansion on Plot 1/13, on Jinja Road opposite Social Security House.
