Kampala: Victoria University has today handed over 300 scholarships to the Minister in Charge of Kampala Betty Olive Namisango Kamya, for Ugandans who want to have an opportunity to attain University education but can’t afford it.
The scholarships were given out by businessman Rajiv Ruparelia through his Ruparelia Foundation Scheme and the handover ceremony took place at the Minister’s office in Kampala. Naiya Ruparelia, a Director at Victoria University said the scholarships are being offered in the academic fields of health sciences [50], science and technology [100],Humanities [50], faculty of business [50] and oil and gas [50]. “The offer is open to students with a minimum of at least two principal passes for degree and one principal pass for diploma. There’s also a pre-university course for those who may not necessarily have those qualifications but would like to go to university and study. They can bridge the gap by doing a foundation course,” said Naiya
“Applications can be physically picked up at the University campus on Jinja Road. Alternatively you can apply online at our website [vu.ac.ug] and follow prompts.” Naiya added. On her part, Kamya said she was excited by Victoria University’s good gesture and that the scholarships will be beneficial to the people of Kampala as well as Uganda at large. “The scholarships come at a right time when parents and students are looking forward to joining good universities like Victoria University. I want to thank the Ruparelia Foundation for giving back to the community and we shall continue working with them to enhance the Education sector in Uganda.”
