Egypt: The Embassy of the Republic of Uganda in Egypt has finally revealed that yesterday evening 19th Egyptian authorities rescued Ssebwato Kato Hussein from abductors who had badly tortured him while demanding for a $41000 ransom.
It remains unclear whether the ransom was paid before he was freed or rescued.

The embassy revealed this through an announcement dated September 19, 2020, signed by Ambassador Martin Mutyaba.
It reads;
“ABDUCTION AND RESCUE OF A UGANDAN, MR. SSEBWATO KATO HUSSEIN.
The Embassy of the Republic of Uganda in Egypt would like to inform the General public that on 16 September 2020, it received information about the abduction of Mr Ssebwato Kato Hussein by unknown people. The abduction had taken place on 14th September 2020.
The Embassy immediately informed the relevant Egyptian Authorities who seriously took up the matter. They have since been in constant communication with the Embassy updating it on the developments.
This is therefore, to gladly inform the general public that today evening 19, 2020, the Embassy received good news from the Egyptian Authorities to the effect that Mr Sebwato has been rescued from his abductors.
The Embassy wishes to sincerely thank the Egyptian Authorities for the effort and commitment which have resulted in saving the life of our national. Thanks also to everyone for your individual and collective prayers and other forms of intervention.”
