Kampala: Students at Vienna College Namugongo have showcased remarkable achievements in the just released Cambridge Advanced Subsidiary Examinations results.

Speaking shortly after giving out the results at the school premises, Mohammed Kakiika, the Headmaster of Vienna College Namugongo, attributed this success to the unwavering dedication of both the teachers and students.

This years performance surpassed that of the previous year, with over 40 percent scoring 3 As and above at the Advanced levels in the November exams.

”Celebrating Excellence! We’re thrilled to share the outstanding news of our students’ remarkable performance in the Cambridge Advanced Subsidiary (AS) October/November 2023 examinations at Vienna College Namugongo. Their dedication and hard work have truly shone through, and we couldn’t be prouder!” the school said on its social media platforms.

Kakiika noted that out of the 150 candidates, most of the students scored highly with only a handful who also secured two principle passes across the different levels adding that 90 percent of the students concentrated on science subjects and social sciences and are set to finalize their advanced levels in May this year.

This year’s results exhibited a notable increase in male students’ performance compared to their female counterparts, with biology emerging as the top-performing subject followed closely by chemistry, physics, mathematics, economics, and business studies respectively.

Kakiika attributed the exceptional performance at Vienna College Namugongo to the collective efforts of students, teachers, and most especially parents who are tirelessly committed to supporting the school in achieving its goals.

Further more, Kakiika implored government through the ministry of education and sports to implement the newly rolled out national curriculum which he said is closely similar to the Cambridge international curriculum this will help the students to get practical education which will produce job creators instead of job seekers.

”Am glad with the new national curriculum that is being rolled out, it is reasonably closer to the Cambridge international curriculum and am sure if it is well implemented, we are going to get good products out of our children in the national curriculum. I hope that they assess it properly the way they have formulated it with the new arrangement of assessment” Kakika said.

”Am looking forward to see that there is no longer Uganda National Examinations board but rather Uganda national assessments board. It is better to access than to examine a student. The Cambridge or the international curriculum assess what the students have learnt other than examining them,” he added.
