Vipers’ Winning Streak Halted By Kirinya Jinja SS

By Denis Turyahebwa

Joel Madondo once again stood up with a stunning performance as Vipers winning run grinded to a halt in a tensely-contested but entertaining Uganda Premier League game played at the Mighty Arena in Jinja.

Kirinya JSS goalkeeper Didi Muhammad was given matching orders after fouling Wafula in an unsporting manner 5 minutes to the mandatory halftime break.

The defending champions entered match day five with a perfect record while their hosts were picking pieces from a 3-0 pounding at the hands of Onduparaka.

Both sides made their intentions clear from the off but it was Vipers who grabbed the lead through Noah Wafula as early as the sixth minute before Madondo equalised for the hosts in the 29th minute.

Sserunkuma restored Vipers lead from the spot with his third goal in as many successive games in the 40th minute after a foul in the area.

But that never deterred Charles Ayiekoh’s side who got level again two minutes after the break through Madondo’s sixth goal of the season.

Vipers made continuous deadly attempts on the goal but failed to break down the solid Kirinya’s defence.

The draw means Vipers are yet to win away from home against the Students.

Javier Martinez Espinoza side stay on top of the log with 13 points while Kirinya are now 10 with 5 points.
