StarTimes Uganda Premier league new comers, Wakiso Giants FC have decided not to extend the contract of coach Ibrahim Kirya and his support staff.
Kirya has been at Wakiso for exactly one year and was at the helm as the Purple Sharks elevated from the FUFA Big League at the first time of asking.
In a statement released on Friday afternoon, the club confirmed that they will not need his services anymore.
“Ibrahim Kirya has left his role as Wakiso Giants FC head coach after his one year contract at the club expired this week.”
“We would like to thank Kirya for the hard work and committment over the past 12 months. He has been a joy to work with and a complete gentleman.”
“The club is thrilled with the work done by Kirya and his technical staff for the period they have been in charge more so in guiding the club to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League and also taking the club to the quarter finals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup, in a space of just one year.
“Kirya and his technical team will be etched into the history of this great club forever.
Kirya joined Wakiso Giants in 2018 with a task of guiding the team to the top flight a task he managed to accomplish.
The purple sharks have reportedly lined up Charles Livingston Mbabazi as a potential replacement for “Uchumi” as he is famously known.
