The Gulu Magistrate’s court has issued criminal summons against Members of Parliament Gerald Karuhanga (Ntungamo Municipality) and Paul Mwiru (Jinja East) for failing to turn up for yesterday’s mention of the treason case against them.
Among the others summoned is a one Shaban Atiku and Gamba Tumusiime.
This was issued in yesterday’s court session by the Magistrate Isaac Imran Kintu, who stated that mentioned officials had dodged without notifying court.
However in response, the defense team informed court that the two MPs could not attend the session because they were away for official duties in Burundi.
It should be noted that according to state, the accused pelted stones at one of President Museveni’s motorcade that resulted into the smashing of its hind windscreen on August 13 during Arua Municipality by election campaigns.
Hon. Kyagulanyi, Kasiano Wadri, and 26 others on Monday were among the people that appeared before Grade One Magistrate Isaac Imoran Kintu for mention of this case. However, investigations into this case are unfinished.
Prosecution led by Mr Paul Weponde stated that they were not ready to proceed with the case because police are still gathering evidence against the suspects.
