Mukono: A ruthless 27-year-old woman has been Thrusday morning sentenced to 20 years in Luzira prisons after being convicted of murdering her husband.

Jackline Nakku, a resident of Nabuti in Mukono Central Division, was convicted by Justice Susan Okalany for murdering Eric Kiddu Ssenyonjo.

Prosecution led by Agnes Kiconco told court that Nakku murdered Ssenyonjo, who was an employee of Hotel Africana, on February 14, 2018, at their marital home in Nabuti village. On the fateful day, Ssenyonjo’s body was found in a pool of blood in the bedroom. The body had two severe wounds on the head caused by an iron bar. Kiconco notes that Nakku had accused the deceased of having an affair with a Umeme employee.  Justice Okalany said that circumstantial evidence produced in court indicated that Nakku killed her husband and later rushed to the neighbours pleading for help, claiming that they had been attacked by three armed robbers.

She also said that the investigating officers also failed to trace and verify an incident of robbery on the day Ssenyonjo died, hence her conviction. After being handed the jail sentence, Nakku, who looked every inch unmoved, was led out of court to a waiting Luzira prisons bound bus.
