SuperSport is your HomeOfSport and best place to see women’s sporting events from all around the globe.
The first major sporting event to feature female involvement this weekend arrives on the morning of Saturday 5 December, with the live broadcast of WWE SmackDown, episode 1111.
SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks is one of the top female superstars in WWE, proving her ability with an impressive win over Raw Women’s Champion Asuka at Survivor Series last week, while her growing rivalry with Carmella is one to watch out for this weekend.
“I would only hope [Carmella] would act like… I’ve been watching her vignettes. She looks beautiful. She looks gorgeous. She has like, you know she looks like she has class — I thought, but she doesn’t,” said Banks.

“So, hopefully, next week if she wants to have a sit-down. I’m calm, I’m cool. If she wants to talk about it, we can, but it’s WWE we can settle it in the ring. It would only take three seconds, maybe one because all I need to do is make her tap. Even a slap can knock her out. We’ll see.”
Later on Saturday, there will be live women’s basketball action from South Africa as the Soweto Panthers take on the Tshwane Suns, while Sunday morning sees more female fighters take centre stage in UFC Fight Night: Hermansson v Vettori. Across the prelims and the main card, there will be two women’s bantamweight bouts which see Wu Yanan face Bethe Correia and Taila Santos take on Montana De La Rosa.
De La Rosa has stepped in at short notice to face Brazilian Santos and is confident of bouncing back from a loss to Viviane Araujo in September: “Every fight, I’m just getting more and more comfortable in there [the Octagon],” she said. “I went straight pro, so I wasn’t able to get all the amateur experience and everything. I feel like I’m just now starting to be able to put everything together and be able to showcase all my skills.”

The weekend’s final female action comes from the world of golf, with live coverage of Day 4 of the LPGA’s Volunteers of America Classic. Held at the Old American Golf Club in Texas, this tournament has a purse of $1.75million and Cheyenne Knight is the defending champion.
No rival can compete with SuperSport’s coverage. Our viewers on DStv and GOtv can see all their favourite female athletes from around the world on their Channel of Champions.
