Worry As Armed Men Rob Millions, Kidnap Employees

Kagadi: Uganda Police in Kagadi District and sister security operatives are on a hunt for a yet to be known gunmen who raided and kidnapped two employees of Kagadi Nile Depot.

According to Julius Hakiza the Albertine Regional Police Spokesperson, the alleged thugs are said to have disarmed Rashid Edemala the security guard of the depot and later put Joseph Mugume, the Depot manager at gunpoint before kidnapping them.

Spy Uganda has learnt that after robbing the money, thugs bundled Edema and Mugume into a waiting vehicle and fled. It is alleged that thugs reportedly robbed over Shs16 million from the depot’s premises in Kagadi town on Thursday night.

Police were notified about the incident on Friday morning October 25, 2019, by one of the workers identified as Dan Ssemanda after he reported for work and found bloodstains around the depot.
‘‘We are investigating circumstances under which Mugume Joseph, the Manager Nile Beer Depot Kagadi and security guard Edemala Rashid were kidnapped between the night of October 23 and 24 at an unknown time. We are on ground and efforts are underway to rescue the missing persons,’’ Mr Hakiza said.

Hadali Kosayi the officer in charge of Kagadi Police Station said that police found bloodstains at the scene where the depot manager is believed to have been captured from.
A bullet cartridge was also recovered from the scene, according to detectives investigating the attack. the victims’ mobile phones are switched off.
