”Yours Is To Study, Ours Is To Get For You A Job”-Victoria University Secures Jobs For Its Students In UK & Germany

The mighty Victoria University has continued to prove that it’s the only globally connected, innovative, and problem-solving University in the East African region if not the whole continent.

After announcing this month the Career Readiness and Employability Program (CREP) to enhance students with employable skills and stand out potentially in the job market, it has now announced that its IT, hospitality and nursing students will soon be flying to Germany and the United Kingdom where jobs are waiting for them, thanks to Professor Lawrence Muganga’s wise leadership.

According to a brief announcement shared by the University management, TheSpy Uganda understands that Mr. Jorg Schafer CEO, Arbeitsvermittlung Westfalen-Lippe (AWL) German will be flying to Uganda on Monday 3rd May on the invitation of Victoria University to guide students on how to start their career in Germany.

“Are you a hospitality or IT student or graduate with a dream of working in Germany? Well here is the grand opportunity, Victoria University has partnered with Jorg Schafer CEO Arbeitsvermittlung Westfalen-Lippe (AWL) German. He will on May 3rd guide you on how to start a career in Germany. All IT and hospital students and graduates are welcome, including those from other institutions although priority will be given to our alumni and students,” announced Victoria University.

Also, the university states that nurses and midwives will also be having Mr Nishant Mamtora, Recruitment Director CWG Recruit UK to guide them on how to start career in the United Kingdom.

“All the presentations will be hosted at Victoria University from 10 am,” says the University.

Although all universities are invited, Victoria University management says those who will be considered must have registered via a Whatsapp number +256 782 397 799.

Hosted by on one of the TVs in Uganda last month, Victoria University Vice Chancellor Prof Lawrence Muganga hinted about the above deals.

“Just a snippet, Victoria University is going to start taking its nursing students to the United Kingdom for work every year. Now, you have every reason to join us,” said Prof. Muganga. ”Our students are assured of jobs; upon completing their studies, they can pursue employment in the UK with our assistance in facilitating the process.”

Victoria University’s move is a big win for Uganda as a country that has been grappling with the challenge of unemployment mostly affecting graduates.

According to statistics, Uganda’s unemployment rate amounted to 2.94 percent in 2021 and the only way this figure can be curbed from further escalating is by academic institutions strategizing to help students in finding jobs or equipping them with enough skills to start their own jobs something Prof Muganga has been advocating for.

Muganga says that Victoria University emphasizes a “learning by doing” approach, which enables students to apply what they learn in the classroom to practical situations in the industry. The Professor also believes that teaching digital competencies is essential as individuals need to acquire and regularly enhance these skills to stay competitive and relevant.

Muganga further believes that a good education should go beyond academic excellence and also focus on nurturing good values in individuals, which he says ultimately shapes their character and positively impacts society as a whole.

”At Victoria University, we are committed to nurturing the natural abilities and talents of our students. We believe that every student has unique gifts and potential, and it is our responsibility to provide a supportive environment that allows them to flourish,” noted Muganga.
