Kampala: It was pomp and glamour today at Nakivubo Primary School as leading car exporter, Yuasa Investments Limited in partnership with Turkish Embassy in Uganda donated goodies worth millions to disabled muslims in Kampala as a way of celebrating the forthcoming Idd with them.

The delegation of Turkish community was led by the tireless Ambassador himself, HE. Fikret Kerem Alp whereas YUASA team was led by the company’s effortful Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Hasham AR. Wahaib among other key diplomats from both sides and were welcomed by newly appointed Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) Chairperson Hajjat. Safia Juuko Nalule who dubbles to be the national representative of eople with disablities in parliament.
Muslims who had converged at their umbrella organization’s headquaters of Kampala District Union of People with Disabilities-Nakivubo, were given each a full sack of 100kg filled with a variety of goodies among them including cooking oil, rice, beans, maize flour, sugar, packets of salt among others.

While handing over the donations to the disableds, Ambassador Kerem thanked YUASA for the fruitful and smooth coperation aimed at transforming people’s lives. ”I first thank YUASA for the tremendous coperation with Turkish Embassy. Am happy that ever since we kicked off this coperation, alot has been achieved and we look forward to continue working together for the betterment of Ugandans,” he noted.
The Ambassador also promised that Turkish Embassy will continue sponsoring some of the disabled’s projects in a bid to help them be self reliant. ”I commend you for challenging those who are physcally fit by showing them that disability is not innability, the Turkish Embassy shall continue sponsoring some of your projects to help you acheive your dreams but also be self reliant,” he said.
On thereother hand, YUASA boss hailed the disabled for not giving up on the key pillars of Islam fasting inclusive and urged them to remain focused giving them hope that despite their physicality, they have alot they can still be able to achieve.
He revealed that it was not the first time YUASA has made donations to muslim communities noting that even in the previous years, they have been donating to Ugandans ahead of holly-days’ celebrations.
”As YUASA, we can’t thank enough Ugandans who have made us big and uncompetable car dealers and exporters in Uganda. As a result therfore, we have been giving back to Ugandans in various categories and we plegde that we shall continue offering these donations because that is the only way we can say thank you Ugandans for keeping YUASA a booming company,” said YUASA CEO, Mr. Hasham.

Meanwhile, some of the receipients of these donations that talked to our reporter expressed their joy to YUASA and Turkish Embassy for being their savior amidst COVID-19 financial crisis. ”Me i don’t know what to say because am engulfed with much joy due to this big assortment i have received from YUASA and Turkish Embassy. Sincerely speaking due to this kind of life (disability) am living in, some times getting what to eat is a challenge but now my Idd is sorted, Alhamdurirah,” said a one Mubiru Isma.
